Emergency commercial refrigeration repair, answered live
Call (617) 938-5404 at any hour and a person answers. Not a voicemail box, not a next-business-day callback. Tell us what the equipment is, what it is reading and where you are, and we get a technician moving.
Answered live, 24/7 (617) 938-5404Why the hour matters more than the degree
Massachusetts requires TCS food to be held at 41°F or below under 105 CMR 590. Above that line two clocks start at once: the one on your product, and the one your health inspector will ask about. A cooler at 45°F does not look like an emergency on the dial. By morning it is an inventory write-off and an awkward conversation.
Most of what we get called out to overnight is not exotic. It is a condenser fan motor, a defrost heater, a failed contactor, a blocked drain that refroze. The reason it becomes an emergency is not complexity. It is that nobody could get anyone to pick up the phone.
What to do before we arrive
- Keep the doors shut. Every opening dumps the remaining cold and loads the evaporator with humid air. Resist the urge to keep checking.
- Write down the temperature and the time. If product does become a question later, a written log from before the repair is worth a great deal.
- Do not pack it with ice. On a walk-in it melts into the drain and the floor and does nothing for the box temperature. Move product to a working unit instead if you have one.
- Look at the condenser. If it is caked, tell us. It changes what the technician brings.
- Do not chip ice off a coil with anything metal. A punctured evaporator turns a fan motor call into a system replacement.
Stop and step back for anything burning, smoking or sparking, or any smell of gas. Kill power at the breaker if it is safe to reach, get people away from it, and call the fire department before you call us.
What the call costs
| Equipment | Diagnostic | Credited to repair |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial refrigerator or freezer | $150 | Yes |
| Commercial ice machine | $180 | Yes |
| Walk-in cooler or walk-in freezer | $180 | Yes |
The diagnostic puts an EPA 608 Universal certified technician on site to find the fault, and it comes off the repair if you go ahead. The repair is quoted on site, after diagnosis, before any work starts. We do not quote repairs over the phone, because a fan motor and a compressor are not the same job and pretending otherwise just produces a number nobody can stand behind.
Where we go
Boston, Chelsea, Everett, Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline and Quincy are core coverage. Revere, Medford, Malden, Watertown and Newton are next out, and Waltham, Woburn, Needham, Dedham and Framingham are within the service area. If you are outside it we will tell you plainly rather than send a truck that arrives too late to be useful.
