Commercial refrigeration repair in Watertown
Watertown holds two entirely different refrigeration markets half a mile apart: a row of Armenian food markets running open deli cases, and 2.9 million square feet of life-science space built since 2015.

Watertown has the third largest Armenian community in the United States, roughly seven to eight thousand people, and the food businesses that grew out of it sit within about thirty street numbers of each other on Mount Auburn Street. Massis, Arax and Sevan have each been trading over thirty years, and each survives by holding a distinct specialty rather than competing head on.
Their equipment tells you what they do. Open olive bars, refrigerated deli cases carrying dips, salads and savoury pastries, cheese counters, prepared foods held in ready-to-go containers, and bakery work behind it. Open merchandising is the least forgiving refrigeration in food retail. The air curtain is doing all the work, and it fails quietly, holding temperature at the sensor while the top of the product sits several degrees warmer.
On an open case, we measure product temperature at the load line, not just the discharge air. A case that passes at the probe and fails at the top shelf is the single most common thing we find in this kind of shop.
The Arsenal Street corridor
Arsenal Yards brought a quarter of a million square feet of retail and restaurant space, a Roche Bros. grocery anchor and a 150-room hotel. Around it, Watertown has become a genuine life-science town, with named buildings on Forge Road, Arsenal Street and Galen Street, and roughly eleven more permitted but not yet started.
That mix puts three different service profiles inside one square mile: chain restaurant kitchens on a fixed spec, a supermarket rack system, and lab refrigeration where a temperature excursion is a lost experiment rather than lost inventory. We work all three, and we do not treat them the same.
Worth saying plainly, because it shapes the town: the Watertown Mall’s planned conversion to lab space is off. The property sold in October 2025 to a buyer keeping it as retail. Watertown’s lab growth is real, but it is not swallowing the retail base.
Access
Mount Auburn Street is in the middle of a two-mile Complete Streets rebuild running from the Cambridge line to Patten Street, straight through Coolidge Square. Detours shift as work moves. Watertown also has no rapid transit at all, so everything arrives by road: Soldiers Field Road, Arsenal Street or the Pike.
Water
Watertown is fully MWRA supplied, around 15 milligrams per liter. Soft. If an ice machine or a steam-fed piece of equipment is scaling here, the cause is upstream of the water, in a filter that was never changed or a machine that has been running a fault for months.
