Commercial refrigeration repair in Woburn
Woburn is the one town in our area where an ice machine problem really can be a water problem. Woburn blends MWRA supply with its own Horn Pond wells, and the well water runs about four times harder than what the rest of Greater Boston drinks.

Woburn draws roughly 53 per cent of its water from the MWRA and about 47 per cent from its own well field at Horn Pond, treated at the Horn Pond plant. Finished water leaving that plant tests around 62 parts per million hardness, near four grains per gallon, against roughly one grain for straight MWRA water.
Sodium is the other number worth knowing. Horn Pond finished water averages around 98 milligrams per liter of sodium, close to three times the MWRA figure, at a pH of about 8.5. The plant’s filtration exists specifically to strip iron and manganese out of the well supply.
What this means practically: in Woburn, scale on an evaporator, a shortened harvest, a machine making cloudy or soft cubes, or a water valve that keeps sticking is worth investigating as a water problem. In Boston or Cambridge the same symptoms almost never are. Woburn is genuinely a filtration town, and the blend ratio means your hardness is not even constant.
We size filtration off a measured reading taken at your machine on the day, not off a town average. A cartridge specified for one grain per gallon and fitted in a four grain building will be exhausted long before anyone changes it, and the machine takes the damage in the meantime.
Where the work is
Woburn Village on Mishawum Road, the redeveloped former mall, anchors on Market Basket with a row of chain restaurant tenants around it, sitting at the I-93 and I-95 interchange. Main Street through Woburn Center is a genuinely international restaurant strip for a city this size: Portuguese, Brazilian charcoal-grilled meats, Spanish tapas, hand-pulled Xi’an noodles, Indian, Thai, Japanese and Korean, plus an all-you-can-eat sushi operation out on Cummings Park.
Around them sit the office parks, Cummings Park, Sylvan Road, Montvale Avenue and TradeCenter 128 at the Burlington line, plus an inpatient rehabilitation hospital and Winchester Hospital’s outpatient sites. Lord Hobo brews on Draper Street, which brings glycol and walk-in load of its own. Woburn counts more jobs than residents.
A churrascaria running charcoal-grilled meats needs bulk marinated storage and reliable holding rather than a standard line cooler, and a high-turn sushi operation lives or dies on refrigerated display that actually holds at the top of the case. Neither is a generic restaurant fit-out.
Getting in and out
The I-93 and I-95 cloverleaf at the Woburn line is one of the busiest and historically one of the worst-performing interchanges in Massachusetts, with a known lane-drop and weaving problem. A widening project is in preliminary design. We route around the interchange at peak rather than sitting in it while your product warms.
