Commercial refrigeration repair in Medford

Medford is an institutional town more than an independent-restaurant town. The refrigeration load sits in a university dining system, a 120,000 square foot supermarket, a hotel cluster and a hospital campus, not in a dense strip of small kitchens.

Where the load actually is

Medford Square carries around sixteen of the city’s roughly fifty-five liquor licenses, but the city’s own master plan is blunt that the Square is over-weighted toward personal and professional services and thin on retail. The serious refrigeration is elsewhere.

Wegmans on Mystic Valley Parkway runs 120,000 square feet of store. Station Landing at Wellington stacks a hotel cluster on top of a chain restaurant row. Tufts runs its own dining operation across the Medford and Somerville campuses, including a venue built to be free of gluten, tree nuts and peanuts, and a glatt kosher deli on Professors Row. Lawrence Memorial on Governors Avenue still runs outpatient and specialty care, though it no longer operates an emergency department.

What institutional work demands that a restaurant does not

A university dining hall with an allergen-free production venue cannot treat a walk-in as interchangeable with any other walk-in. Segregated storage is the whole point of the room. A technician who moves product to get at a coil, or who leaves a door open across two zones, has undone the control the kitchen is built around.

For separated storage of any kind, allergen, kosher or otherwise, tell us on the call. We work around the separation rather than through it, and we do not move product between zones.

Hotels bring their own constraint. Banquet and breakfast service means the equipment has a hard deadline every single morning, and the window to work on it is narrow and nocturnal. We would rather come at two than at ten.

Getting there

I-93 runs straight through Medford and Route 16 is grade separated above Main Street, connecting to I-93 through a rotary. That is fast when it works and a trap when it does not. Salem Street carries over twenty thousand vehicles a day either side of the interchange.

Medford Square has a parking surplus on paper, around sixty-three per cent utilization across more than two thousand off-street spaces, and yet the commercial streets themselves sit full through the working day. The supply is in the wrong places. We stage accordingly instead of circling.

Water

Medford is fully MWRA supplied. Soft water, roughly 15 milligrams per liter. Ice machine problems in Medford are far more often condenser, harvest or water valve than scale, whatever a previous contractor told you.

Common questions

Do you work with purchase orders and net 30?
Yes. Institutional and hospital accounts run on purchase orders, and we provide a certificate of insurance on request for vendor onboarding.
Can you service overnight so we do not lose a breakfast service?
Yes. For hotel and institutional kitchens the overnight window is usually the right window, and the line is answered live at any hour.
Do you keep service records we can show an inspector?
Yes. Documented records of what was found, what was done and what the readings were, not just an invoice with a total on it.
